President orders SBU chief to probe into attempt to kill parliamentary candidate Borysenko

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has ordered Security Service of Ukraine Chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko to immediately hold an investigation into an attempted murder of parliamentary candidate Volodymyr Borysenko.

"President just now had a telephone conversation with SBU chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko and ordered him to urgently investigate into the incident happened with the parliamentary candidate V. Borysenko," Ukrainian presidential press secretary Sviatoslav Tseholko said.

He added that the president gave 24 hours to the SBU chief to found out details of the incident.

Advisor to Ukrainian Interior Minister Anton Heraschenko wrote on Facebook that late on Monday there was an attempt to kill parliamentary candidate Borysenko.

"When he came into the yard to feed his dog, he was shot from the fire-arms, and a hand-made smoke-puff charge has been thrown under his foot. A body armor, which he recently was wearing after receiving threatening telephone calls, saved his life," said a report.

As Heraschenko reported, Borysenko was hospitalized and now he in a state of pain shock.

He said that Investigative Department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry in Kyiv region opened a criminal case under the Article 115, Part 1 – an attempt on somebody's life. Several versions are being verified, including participation of Borysenko in the election race in the constituency No. 98, the adviser said.
