Ukraine, European Commission agree on common stand at gas talks on Tuesday – Naftogaz

Ukraine and the European Commission have agreed on a common stand at a gas talks with Russia, which are scheduled for Tuesday, the press service of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy reported.

The agreement was reached at a meeting in Kyiv on Monday, the press service said.

"Representatives of the EC and Ukraine have agreed that the talks should result in an interim agreement that will guarantee gas supplies to Ukraine and the stability of [gas] transit shipments to the EU this winter. This agreement should contain clear-cut guarantees concerning both the supply by Gazprom of agreed amounts of gas to Ukraine and payment by Naftogaz for delivered gas," the press service said.

The stand agreed by the EC and Ukraine stipulates that Naftogaz and Gazprom need to sign binding agreements that exclude unilateral changes.
