Poroshenko promises no place for race discrimination in Ukraine

Ukraine will never allow fascism to return in Ukraine and there will be no racial discrimination, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said.

"Ukraine will never allow race discrimination, the return of fascism, ethnic persecution of the partition of the country by language, faith or any other feature. Ukraine will remain united," the president told the journalists in Kyiv after a ceremony of paying tribute to the victims of Babyn Yar tragedy.

Poroshenko said that only a united Ukraine could overcome the risks and threats it faces today.

Speaking of lessons of BabynYar tragedy, the head of state noted that it was a "reminder to the whole world about the danger of interethnic hostility."

He noted that about 100,000 people were killed from 1941-1943.

On September 29, 1941, when Kyiv was occupied by the Nazis, mass executions of civilians started at Babyn Yar.
