Twenty-three children have died and forty-five received various types of injuries since the beginning of the military campaign in Donetsk region, deputy head of Donetsk regional state administration Olena Petriayeva has said.

"Twenty-three children died and 45 were injured. There are newborns and children up to 18 years old [among them]," said Petriayeva, who is the director of administration's health department.

As for the number of adults killed, Petriayeva said that over 1,300 bodies have gone through the bureau of forensic examination during the armed conflict.

She said that in reality this number was much bigger, since a great number of those killed weren't registered by the medical establishments of the region.

Besides, the medical establishments of Donetsk region have registered over 3,000 people being injured during the anti-terrorist operation.
