Healthcare, medicine registration system to be reformed as a part of implementation of Association Agreement with EU

As part of the implementation of the Association Agreement of Ukraine with the European Union (EU), a concept on the reform of healthcare will be drawn up, and laws in the area of the registration of medicines will be adapted to the European requirements.

According to the plan approved by cabinet resolution No. 847-r of September 17, 2014 and posted on the government's Web site on September 19, it is panned that the drawing up of the road map for the adaptation of Ukrainian laws to EU laws in the area of the registration and circulation of medicines is to be finished by December 2014.

The designing of the concept and strategy for the reform of the healthcare system are to be finished by December 2015.

In addition, in 2014-2017 it is planned to attract expert and financial aid from the EU to draw up a strategy for introducing a mechanism of refunding expenses on outpatient consumption of medicines (reimbursement).

By August 2017 legal acts regarding reports on serious concurrent reactions on medicines and safety standards for collection, testing and spreading human blood and its compounds are to be drawn up and submitted to the government.

It is also planned to introduce legal acts to take measures to improve safety and occupational hygiene of pregnant women, women who recently gave birth to a baby, and nursing mothers.
