The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a law exempting from criminal liability certain categories of persons who committed criminal offenses in the period from February 22, 2014 until the entry into force of the law in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, where an anti-terrorist operation (ATO) was conducted.

MPs reported on social networks that 287 MPs voted for this law at a closed meeting on Tuesday.

A respective draft law, on preventing the prosecution and punishment of persons who participated in events in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, was introduced by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and registered in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday morning.
