A member of the Ukraine-EU-Russia trilateral contact group, second Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, has said that control of the Russian-Ukrainian border is a major condition for the implementation of Minsk agreements and proposes increasing guarantees through the presence of UN peacekeeping forces on the border.

"And it's even better to use UN peacekeeping troops there," he told journalists as part of the 11th annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) in Kyiv on Friday, recalling that the Minsk protocol assigns the task of border control to the OSCE.
