Yatseniuk concerned about restrictions on Russian gas supplies to some EU countries

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said he is concerned about restrictions imposed by Russia on Russian gas supplies to some EU countries, including Slovakia.

"The goal of Russia's Gazprom is to make Ukraine's neighboring states stop reverse gas supplies to Ukraine," the Ukrainian government's press service quoted him as saying at a meeting with Slovak Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak in Kyiv on Friday.

Yatseniuk also noted the efforts of the Slovak government to support Ukraine in addressing security and energy challenges.

"During this difficult period it is particularly important to demonstrate the unity and solidarity of the European Union," he said.

According to the press service, the sides also discussed issues of economic stabilization.

"Yatseniuk noted the importance of continuing cooperation programs with international financial institutions and urged the European Union to continue to support reforms in Ukraine," reads the report.
