Japan will issue extra $300,000 to improve situation in east of Ukraine – Foreign Ministry

The government of Japan has decided to issue an additional grant of $300,000 to improve the situation in the east of Ukraine, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has said, with reference to Japanese Ambassador Toichi Sakata.

According to the press service of the ministry, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Olefirov at a meeting with the Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine discussed the complicated situation in the east and south-east of Ukraine.

"Sakata informed that the government of Japan decided to issue an additional grant in the amount of $300,000 through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to improve the humanitarian situation in the east of Ukraine," reads a statement.

Olefirov thanked Japan for its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as financial and humanitarian assistance.
