Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk says he is confident that the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union will be ratified by the current parliament in September 2014.

"Let me stress: everything is ready for the ratification. The incumbent parliament will ratify the Agreement with the European Union in September," the premier said in an interview with leading Ukrainian TV channels on Friday.

Statements by Russia about the negative consequences of this agreement for Russians are groundless, Yatseniuk said.

"We have held technical consultations … [and] there are no grounds for Russia to claim that this [Association] Agreement could have a negative impact on Russia," he said.

It was reported that the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU was signed in Brussels on June 27, 2014. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had previously also expressed his confidence that the Association Agreement with the EU would be ratified by the Verkhovna Rada in September.
