Artillery strikes damage apartment buildings, disrupt power to households in Donetsk

Overnight artillery strikes caused damage to buildings in the center of Donetsk and residential areas in some of its neighborhoods, the city administration said in a press release on Friday.

"The Petrovsky, Kyivsky and Leninsky districts came under artillery fire. House No. 13 on Rynkova Street, House No. 58 on Aleutska Street and House No. 7 on Respublikanska Street were hit by shells. The Shyroky farm in the Leninsky district, as well as Pasha Anhelina Street and Prymorska Street were damaged as well," it said.

As many as 218 apartment buildings and 2,050 privately owned houses in two districts of Donetsk remain without access to power.

The Donetsk authorities have also announced that water supplies were restored to the city's districts.

"Water has been normalized in Donetsk. The Northern, Southern and Central water utilities were left without power as a result of artillery strikes yesterday. Power supplies were restored to them within a very short period of time. All water utilities are functioning as usual today, August 22. We would like to remind all citizens that water supplies under normal working pressure will continue from 1900 to 2200. Disruptions are possible at other times," the city authorities said.
