Ukraine not to let Russian convoy enter its territory - Chaly

Ukraine will not let a Russian convoy carrying humanitarian aid enter its territory, Deputy Head of Ukraine's Presidential Administration Valeriy Chaly has said.

"We do not consider any movement of Russian convoys on Ukrainian territory," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

He said that the goods collected would be delivered to the Ukrainian border, cleared at a customs checkpoint and reloaded onto other vehicles.

Chaly said that the Ukrainian branch of the International Committee of the Red Cross was responsible for the receipt of humanitarian aid and that personnel from Geneva would also arrive in Ukraine to help them.

He said that the Ukrainian side undertakes to ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian aid on Ukrainian territory.

"We will not allow any escort – either by the Russian Emergencies Ministry or any other law enforcement agency," he said.

Chaly said that this humanitarian mission was international, carried out on Ukraine's initiative.

He also acknowledged that the leaders of the western countries had advised Ukraine to agree to accept assistance from Russia.
