Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a law on partial mobilization, which was previously approved by the parliament.

After the document is published in the official press, partial mobilization will begin on the territory of all regions of Ukraine within 45 days.

The document orders the use of "people liable for military service and reservists and the supply of transport to meet the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Ukrainian National Guard, the Ukrainian Security Service, the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service, the State Special Transport Service, and other Ukrainian military units in the volumes determined by the mobilization plans."

Local authorities are ordered to notify citizens of mobilization and provide buildings and facilities in accordance with the mobilization plans.

According to the document, the decision on partial mobilization was made due to the "spread of manifestations of terrorism on the territory of Ukraine, which leads to deaths of civilians, people liable for military service, and Ukrainian military and law enforcement officers in the eastern regions of the country, the concentration of troops with a considerable offensive potential on the territory of Russia near the Ukrainian state border, a threat of attack, and a threat to the state independence of Ukraine with the purpose of defending the state based on a proposal made by the National Security and Defense Council as part Items 1, 17, and 20 of Part 1 of Article 106 of the Ukrainian Constitution.

National Security and Defense Council Secretary Andriy Parubiy said this law "will make it possible to put 15 military units and 44 combat support units in combat condition."
