Bloc of left and center-left forces to nominate CPU Leader for Ukraine's president
The Communist Party of Ukraine (CPU) will become a member of the election bloc of left and left-of-center forces, which will support CPU Leader Petro Symonenko at the Ukrainian elections.
This decision was taken at a special congress of the Communist Party of Ukraine in Kyiv on October 3.
"The congress has decided to form a Bloc of Left and Center-Left Forces together with the Spravedlyvist (Justice) Party, the Union of Left Forces, and the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united)," Symonenko said.
The congress also decided to put forward CPU leader Symonenko as a single candidate for presidency.
The presidential elections in Ukraine will take place on January 17, 2010.
