Ukraine establishes charitable foundation for sake of national security

Ukraine has established a new charitable foundation dealing with strengthening of the Ukraine's national security, advisor to Ukrainian Interior Minister and foundation's co-founder Anton Heraschenko reported.

"The reason for the establishment of such a foundation is that for 23 years the security system in Ukraine has been being destroyed. And one of the main tasks of present authorities is to strengthen the national security to be capable to oppose to Russia, and all possible threats. But the efforts of the state aren't enough," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

Heraschenko said that the foundation would accumulate the funds of either Ukrainian citizens and organizations, and foreign representatives to reinforce national security of Ukraine.

The charitable foundation will deal with information security issues, purchase of modern surveillance equipment, defense means, the foundation's co-founder said, adding that fund representatives will work in the United States, Canada and the EU countries on a voluntary basis.

Journalist Yuriy Butusov will be the president of the foundation.
