Ukrainian Defense Ministry reports ten bombardments of its positions in eastern regions

Tensions in the area of the army operation in eastern Ukraine are the highest in Donetsk, Horlivka, Luhansk, Snizhne, Antratsyt, Krasnodon and Severodonetsk, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry press service said on Monday.

"Illegal armed units conducted ten attacks on roadblocks and positions of the Ukrainian army in the past 24 hours. The terrorists are being successfully deterred. Last night they opened mortar and automatic fire on roadblocks near Amvrosiivka, Dovzhansky and Rubizhne and in the area of Kreminne," says a report posted on the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Web site.

One Ukrainian serviceman was injured in the shootings, speaker for the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council information center Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing.

The ministry said the army operation was focused on the destruction of militants training camps, staffs and roadblocks, the restoration of control over the state border and the sealing off of the conflict zone.

Meanwhile, engineering units are demining roads, bridges and buildings, the ministry continued. Some 122mm munitions were taken out from Krasny Lyman and ten howitzer shells, 30 detonators and three RGD-5 grenades were destroyed. Two truckloads of ammunition and two kilograms of WWII explosives were found in Sloviansk.

"A tonne of TNT and ammunition were found in Mykolaivka yesterday. Three MON-100 anti-personnel fragmentation mines and three anti-tank mines were also detected there," the ministry said.
