Ukraine and the European Union plan on June 5, in addition to the agreement on a common air space, to sign a number of documents relating to the convergence of certification systems, as well as on the exchange of information on the flight safety of aircraft using airports in the EU and Ukraine.

According to the press service of Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure, its head Maksym Burbak said this during a round table on the development of airports within the summit of the International Transport Forum held in Leipzig on May 21-23.

"We hope that this agreement will be signed on June 5, 2014 during a meeting of the EU Council in Luxembourg. This will become an important achievement on the way to the liberalization of the markets of air transportation, the introduction of common rules on the basis of EU rules in the field of civil aviation, the improvement of aviation safety, the development of airports and the domestic aviation industry," Burbak said.

According to him, the agreement also opens the possibility of a progressive and phased development of the market of air transportation between the EU and Ukraine based on free pricing, increasing the efficiency in airspace capacity within its responsibility to the ICAO, creating additional conditions for increasing passenger traffic at airports and developing the domestic air travel market, etc.
