Ukrainian presidential candidate and Batkivschyna Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko has said that one of the new president's priorities is to bring back the funds stashed in the offshore accounts of former high-ranking officials.

"We can return dozens of billions of euro withdrawn illegally to the Ukrainian gold-currency reserves … [The newly elected president] will need to tackle the return of all the money held in international offshore accounts immediately," Tymoshenko said in an interview with the Chernivtsi-based TVA television channel, her website reported on Tuesday.

These illegally-withdrawn funds "can be quickly brought back to the country" but this requires "winning legal cases in every country where the money is blocked today," she said.

"The return of these funds is not a problem. We just need to prepare lawsuits correctly," Tymoshenko said.
