The Russian Embassy in Kyiv has already notified the leadership of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe mission in Ukraine and the OSCE office in Kyiv that it will be unable to attend further consultations at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

"Following the tragic events that occurred in Sloviansk last night and this morning and increasingly called into question the further viability of the April 17, 2014 Geneva agreements, the embassy sees no point in its representatives attending consultations at the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine," Russian Charge d'Affaires in Ukraine Andrei Vorobyev told Interfax on Friday.

Vorobyev said that, at the same time, he would keep in touch with head of the OSCE Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Ertugrul Apakan and Swiss ambassador to Ukraine Christian Schoenenberger, who is the OSCE chairperson's envoy to Kyiv.

Following the April 17 meeting in Geneva of foreign ministers from Russia, the U.S., EU and Ukraine, Kyiv has hosted daily consultations involving the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, EU, Russian and U.S. diplomats, as well as representatives of Switzerland, which currently chairs the OSCE.
