Poroshenko: Increased tension in eastern regions meant to spoil May 25 elections

Presidential candidate and Ukrainian independent MP Petro Poroshenko has said that destabilization of the situation in the eastern regions of Ukraine is meant to frustrate the elections.

However, he assured that the elections would be held in time – on May 25.

"What is the destabilization in the east – Donetsk and Luhansk – is aimed at…Today we can surely say that scenario of the Russian Blitzkrieg has become a fiasco, but in these two regions today there is a high tension level. Why is this done? Somebody thinks they are going to join Donetsk and Luhansk? No, they don't know what to do with that," he said at Svoboda Slova (Freedom of Speech) program on ICTV on Tuesday evening.
