Turchynov: Russia's reaction to decision on anti-terrorist operation a sign of beginning of Russian aggression

Ukraine's interim president and parliament speaker, Oleksandr Turchynov, has said that Russia is comitting aggression against Ukraine.

"The Russian Federation is reacting very inadequately, which again confirms that there is no confrontation between the Ukrainians in the Donbas, but there is hidden and not-so-hidden aggression of Russia against our country," he said at a meeting of the parliament's conciliatory council on Monday.

He said that Russia publicly supports those individuals, "whom it throws onto Ukrainian territory."

"It supports terrorist acts, supports the murder of law enforcement officers and citizens, and is already doing this in public," he said.

Turchynov also noted that Russia had even appealed to the UN Security Council with the initiative to hold a meeting on the situation in southeastern Ukraine.

"But yesterday representatives of civilized nations rejected [the Russian side]," he added.

As reported, Turchynov said on Sunday that the National Security and Defense Council had decided to start a large-scale anti-terrorist operation involving the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the eastern regions of the country.
