Ukraine is waiting for the completion of the necessary procedures to add Viktor Yanukovych to the Interpol database, after which Ukraine will demand his extradition, Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov has said.

"We have rules of Interpol. Ukraine submitted a note to Interpol and according to the rules of Interpol it conducts a special inspection into whether this note falls under political, religious or other persecution. Interpol has ten days for this. Under our note, as soon as he [Yanukovych] is put into the Interpol database, we'll demand the extradition of Yanukovych and a number of other persons," Avakov told the journalists when a Cabinet of Ministers sitting came to an end on Wednesday.

As reported, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine has opened a criminal case against Viktor Yanukovych for actions aimed at overthrowing the constitutional order and the seizure of power. The Prosecutor General's Office also declared Yanukovych a suspect in the organization of the deliberate killing of people committed in a way dangerous to the lives of many persons. He was suspected of conspiring with a group of people to commit mass murder and also abuse of power and office.

Interpol is studying a request from the Ukrainian authorities to issue an alert for the arrest of Viktor Yanukovych.
