Ukraine's First Deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov has called on everyone to calm down and get to the bottom of what really occurred on Kyiv's Independence square in the early hours of Saturday.

"We need to calm down, wait and understand what has happened. Nothing what we can't deal with has happened," Arbuzov said in an interview with ICTV, part of which aired on Saturday evening.

"An investigation will be conducted, using photo materials," Arbuzov said. "If someone's guilt is determined, the people will be punished," he said.

According to earlier reports, the police dispersed a protest rally held in support of Ukraine's European integration on Kyiv's Independence Square, or Maidan Nezalezhnosti, in the early hours of Saturday.

According to Kyiv emergency services, 35 people sought medical assistance after the dispersal of the rally and seven of them were hospitalized.
