Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych says Russian President Vladimir Putin and he came to the conclusion at their last meeting that Ukraine, Russia, and the EU should hold tripartite consultations.

"There have been several meetings with experts as part of discussions on the situation related to problems of signing an association agreement between Ukraine and the EU," Yanukovych said in an interview with leading TV channels.

"Our experts [Russian and Ukrainian ones] have concluded that, taking into account the speed with which these documents were drawn up, some mistakes were made, which should be revisited. The European Union's demands for us are similar, and they concern a free trade area: if we are negotiating free trade with Russia, this should be coordinated with them [the EU]," he said.

"In order for us to regulate these relations, we need to gather in the trilateral format and consider all disputable points, and they cannot be addressed after an agreement is signed," he said.
