Vitali Klitschko, the leader of the UDAR party, enjoys the highest level of trust with voters compared to other politicians, according to the findings of a nationwide public opinion poll of 2,013 respondents conducted by the Ukrainian Sociology Service jointly with the National Academy of Sciences' Sociology Institute in 95 towns in Ukraine on October 26-November 5, 2013.

Ukrainian Sociology Service head Oleksandr Vyshniak said at a press conference on Wednesday that 13% of the respondents fully trust Klitschko now. Incumbent President Viktor Yanukovych, the second in the poll in this respect, is trusted by 7.8%, Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko by 6%, unaffiliated parliamentarian Petro Poroshenko by 5.4%, and Batkivschyna faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk by 5.1%.

"[But] those who fully trust a certain politician will not necessarily vote for him," Vyshniak said.

At the same time, the poll showed that Symonenko is mistrusted by the largest number of the respondents (70.5%), Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, the second in this respect, by 70.1%, Yanukovych by 65%, Yatseniuk by 58.9%, and Svoboda party leader Oleh Tiahnybok by 60.9%.

Vyshniak noted that, in regards to presidential elections, Yatseniuk's electoral rating in the second round of such elections would be "significantly lower" than Klitschko's, although, as happened before, voters often prefer to follow the lesser evil principle in making their choices in the second round of elections, he said.
