U.S. state secretary plans to visit Ukraine in December, says ambassador

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry intends to visit Ukraine in December, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt has said.

During a meeting with Ukraine's Education and Science Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk, Pyatt said that this visit would be viewed as a signal of the U.S. support to the reforms in Ukraine, the Education Ministry's press service reported on Saturday.

Pyatt suggested preparing proposals for cooperation in the area of education under the auspices of the bilateral commission of strategic partnership during Kerry's visit, and Tabachnyk backed the initiative.

The meeting of the minister and the ambassador took place after the signing of the memorandum of understanding on the implementation of the Fulbright Program in the field of science and technology. The new Fulbright-STEP program will fully fund the study of ten Ukrainian sciences, engineering and mathematics graduate students at U.S. universities.
