Agriculture ministry indignant at presence of Russian confectioners among Rospotrebnadzor's inspectors at Roshen

Agricultural Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine Mykola Prysiazhniuk said he was unhappy at the presence of representatives of Russian confectionary companies among inspectors of Rospotrebnadzor checking the confectionary factories of Roshen Corporation.

"I don't understand why the group includes rivals – representatives of chocolate companies from Russia. What is this, a check, or industrial espionage?" the minister said at the Ukrainian Grain Congress IV in Kyiv on Wednesday, October 23.

Prysiazhniuk said that he does not know which Russian confectioners were included in the inspectors' group, and he find this out.

It was reported earlier that Rospotrebnadzor had banned imports of chocolate and candies produced at four Roshen factories in Ukraine due to quality concerns.

Rospotrebnadzor Chief Gennady Onishchenko and Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk agreed on a mechanism to return Roshen's products to the Russian market at negotiations in Moscow in mid-August.

In particular, Rospotrebnadzor is supposed to inspect four Roshen factories in Ukraine, after which it would be ready to admit its products to the Russian market on condition that each shipment is put under control.

Rospotrebnadzor on October 22 started checking Kyiv confectionary factory of Roshen Corporation.
