Snowden is safe - Kucherena

1 min read

Former CIA employee Edward Snowden feels good in his new place of residence and is completely safe, his lawyer Anatoly Kucherena told Interfax on Friday.

"He has reached his location, feels fine, and is completely safe," Kucherena said.

When asked where precisely Snowden, who has been granted temporary asylum in Russia, will settle, in Moscow or the Moscow region, Kucherena said: "He is on the territory of the Russian Federation."

The lawyer said "the time has not yet arrived to disclose Snowden's location for reasons of his safety."

Kucherena also said his client has no practical needs now. "He currently does not need any new shirts and trousers," he said.

Kucherena earlier gave Snowden documents issued by the Russian Federal Migration Service, including a paper stating that he has been granted temporary asylum for the period until July 31, 2014. After receiving those documents, Snowden left the transit zone of the Moscow Sheremetyevo airport and left to an unknown location.
