Eight killed in road accident in Volyn region, among them two Bulgarians, Belarusian child

Eight people were killed, 27 injured as a result of a head-on collision of two passenger buses near the village of Volia-Liubytivska, Kovel district, Volyn region.

A Belarusian child, born in 2000, was among those killed in the collision, the State Emergency Situations Service of Ukraine reported.

The accident took place at 07:34 on the Lutsk-Kovel motorway. One of the buses was carrying 50 Belarusians, including 40 children under 16, eight adults and two drivers, for holidays in Bulgaria. Another bus was carrying passengers from Lutsk to Shatsk. The number of its passengers is being established.

Those who came from the collision unhurt were taken to the Turia health center in Kovel, where they are getting the necessary assistance. "The circumstances of the accident, the information about those killed and injured are being established," the report reads.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of Bulgaria in Ukraine said that one of the buses was Bulgarian. Two drivers, citizens of Bulgaria, who were driving the bus, died as a result of the incident. The bus was heading for the seaside resort of Sunny Beach in Bulgaria.
