President to meet with parliamentary faction leaders without media, says official

Permanent Representative of the Ukrainian President at the Verkhovna Rada Yuriy Miroshnychenko has said that he will personally inform the media about the outcome of the meeting of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych with the leadership of the parliament and factions.

The president's representative also said the media would receive a video report of the meeting.

"Besides, I will personally inform the media about the results of this meeting. Hopefully, so will all of the faction leaders present at the meeting," the president's press service quoted Miroshnychenko as saying.

He said that the meeting would take place at 1430 on Wednesday.

"The president holds such meetings all the time, but unfortunately the opposition usually ignores them," Miroshnychenko said.

When asked to comment on the absence of the press, the president's representative said that the meeting should become a platform for a constructive dialog, and not another political show.

According to him, the president wants to see parliament work effectively in order to normalize the life in the country and settle the most important problems that the Ukrainian economy is currently facing.

"I hope this meeting will be constructive and will help normalize the Verkhovna Rada's work," Miroshnychenko said.
