Communists to gather up to 20,000 people for rally in Kyiv on May 1

Kyiv City State Administration (KSCA) had as of 1100 on April 25 received eight applications for holding mass events in Kyiv on May 1.

The response to a query from Interfax-Ukraine says that the administration received an application from the Kyiv city committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine concerning the holding of events on the occasion of the International Workers' Day. At 1000, it is planned to lay flowers at the monument to Lenin. From 1100 to 1200, the participants in a rally will march from Besarabska Square along Khreschatyk Street to European Square. The rally will be held from 1200 to 1300. The stated number of participants is up to 20,000 people.

The administration also received an application from the Kyiv city council of trade unions. They plan to hold an information campaign from 1000 to 1300 on the occasion of the International Workers' Day outside the building at 16 Khreschatyk Street.

In addition, the administration received an application came from Kyiv's Labor Protection trade union. They are planning to gather for a rally on Arsenalna Square from 1100 to 1130. From 1130 to 1330, the participants plan to march from the square through Hrushevskoho Street, European Square, Volodymyrsky Descent to Kontraktowa Square. Some 1,500 people are to participate in the event.

The administration also received five applications from citizens' groups to hold rallies on May 1. The total number of registered participants in these events is up to 1,300 people.
