BYT faction leader describes talk of coup d'etat or conspiracy as groundless
The leader of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko faction in parliament, Ivan Kyrylenko, has said that reports of a coup d'etat or conspiracies between political parties are groundless.
"Late May was marked with another story on a boring subject - betrayal, conspiracy, coup d'etat, the usurpation of power and other terrible things. This has already become a political characteristic of Ukraine," he said from the parliament's rostrum on Tuesday.
"Everybody is trembling when nothing has happened yet. The BYT is again empowered not just to say, but again calm the numerous camps of different political forces - don't be afraid and don't tremble in vain. Nothing of this kind will happen," he said.
Kyrylenko noted that the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko supported and would continue to support the settlement of problems with Ukraine's political system, which has currently exhausted itself.
He said that for the BYT, the major problem lies not in the distribution of powers between the president and the prime minister.
"The distribution of real power between the center and the [regions] in the latter's favor should be the cornerstone of the country's stable and civilized development," he said, adding that local government agencies and communities in the regions should get most of the powers.
