Rada passes bill to impose life imprisonment on judges and prosecutors who take large bribes
Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has made the punishment for bribe-taking by law-enforcement officials more severe.
A bill amending Ukrainian anti-bribe-taking laws was supported by 364 out of 431 MPs registered in the session hall on Thursday.
The bill envisages life imprisonment for large-scale bribe-taking by judges, investigators and public prosecutors and 15-year terms of imprisonment for state officials, according to MP Anatoliy Hrytsenko of the Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense faction.
