Deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in 1Q shrinks by nine times - statistics
The deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in the first quarter of 2009 was estimated at $419.7 million, which was 9 times down on the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee said on Monday.
January through March 2009 exports fell by 36.6%, to $10.41 billion, while imports declined by 46.4%, to $10.83 billion.
The export of goods alone over the period under review decreased by 39.6%, to $8.34 billion, while the import of goods dropped by 48.1%, to $9.78 billion.
The export of services slid by 20.3%, to $2.07 billion, while the import of services went down by 22.9%, to $1.05 billion.
As was reported, the deficit of Ukraine's foreign trade in 2008 was estimated at $13.484 billion, which was 1.86 times up on 2007.
