Famous TV host Pelykh dies in car crash in Kyiv early on Friday
Well-known Ukrainian TV host Ihor Pelykh died in a car crash in Kyiv early on Friday, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's media liaisons office has told Interfax-Ukraine.
The office told the agency that two people died in the car accident, which occurred at 82 Peremohy Avenue at about 0500.
According to preliminary reports, a Honda car collided with a Volkswagen vehicle while turning into Scherbakova Street. The Honda car overturned after smashing down two trees. Two of its passengers, Pelykh, and another, a young black woman, died at the scene of the accident. Another woman from the Honda is in a serious condition at hospital.
The driver of Honda escaped from the site of the crash, and a search for him is currently underway.
None of the passengers from Volkswagen were injured in the accident.
Pelykh was born in Ternopil on February 3, 1974. In 1997, he worked at the Stolytsia radio station, and later at the 1+1 television company. Since 2000, he has served as a Web site administrator for the ICTV Channel, and then as a TV host and film producer.
He was married with three children.
