Chernovetsky plans to run for president of Ukraine
Kyiv Mayor Leonid Chernovetsky has said he plans to participate in the forthcoming presidential elections.
"I will surely participate in the presidential campaign," Chernovetsky told the press on Thursday after his meeting with Archbishop Ivan Yurkovych.
"Only God can help me win the elections," he said.
On the other hand, he said that the most likely candidates are Arseniy Yatseniuk, Viktor Yanukovych and Yulia Tymoshenko.
Chernovetsky said that Yatseniuk is still below 35, so the parliament might increase the age limit for the presidential candidates.
"If Yatseniuk wins, Ukraine will get a moral president," the Kyiv mayor said.
However, the mayor said that the current President Viktor Yuschenko has a chance to win. According to the mayor, Yuschenko hurt his ratings by taking some unpopular decisions during his office.
As for himself, Chernovetsky said that he "couldn't even think of becoming the mayor of Kyiv when he was a poor child".
"I am a mayor who will remembered for his novel decisions. No matter some people say about me - that I am crazy, mad. Yes, I am mad in my love for God and poor people," he said.
