Ukraine in the new gas crisis with Russia has confirmed its status as a reliable transit country, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said.
"We have fully provided transit of gas to the EU countries. The Russians hoped that Ukraine would start taking gas from transit. Keep dreaming! Ukraine is a reliable transit country, reliable state and reliable partner," the head of state said when visiting the dispatching office of Ukrtransgaz on Saturday.
He noted Kyiv had informed all European partners about the current situation due to Gazprom's refusal to comply with the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration, therefore the partners were ready and well informed not to succumb to provocations.
Ukrtransgaz representatives demonstrated to the head of state that pressure on the entrance to the gas transportation system (GTS) of Ukraine from Russia is below contractual values, while pressure on the exit from the Ukrainian GTS towards the EU is even slightly higher than necessary.
