Participation of U.S. rep in Ukroboronprom's supervisory board to promote institution's transparency - Poroshenko
The participation of U.S. representative Anthony Tether in the supervisory board of the Ukroboronprom State Concern will contribute to the transparency of the state concern's work, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.
"This is a symbol of effective cooperation between Ukrainian and American partners," the press service of the head of state quoted Poroshenko as saying on Wednesday, February 21.
The president also added that the participation of the U.S. representative in the concern's supervisory board "will promote transparency, openness and effectiveness of the institution."
"Five years ago nobody could imagine an American in the supervisory board - the adytum of secret to which nobody was allowed. It is a nightmare of the first department of the KGB. Today, we are making very decisive changes," he said.
Tether, in turn, thanked Poroshenko for the high confidence and opportunity to work together with Ukrainian partners and expressed conviction in the successful development of many projects of the military-defense complex of Ukraine.
Poroshenko state also noted that Ukroboronprom's supervisory board should develop a strategy to increase the effectiveness of management, speed of decision-making and, in coordination with the leadership of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Defense Ministry, fulfillment of tasks so that Ukrainian military could work with modern weapons. Poroshenko added that the adoption of the state defense order in February gives additional opportunities for Ukroboronprom's enterprises. He also noted the importance of entering foreign markets.
