The share of counterfeit products in the cement market of Ukraine in 2017 decreased to 8% from 21.5% in 2014, according to a press release from the Ukrcement association of cement producers, with reference to a study by GfK Ukraine.

"According to data for 2017, the distribution of the packaged cement market between factory and non-factory cement has changed for the first time since 2011. The study showed that last year 72.8% of the cement market accounted for the share of original cement from plants," the press release reads.

It says that in 2014 the share of original factory cement in the market was only 52.7%.

Thus, the share of non-factory cement from packing or grinding enterprises and cement of unknown origin decreased to 19.2% in 2017 from 25.8% in 2014.

The association believes that changes in the market occurred after the signing of a memorandum on the quality of cement between Ukrcement, the Union of Consumers and large networks of construction materials.

As reported, in 2017 Ukrcement signed a memorandum on guaranteeing the quality of packaged cement distributed with the All-Ukrainian public organization Union of Consumers of Ukraine and the networks of construction hypermarkets Epicenter K and Nova Linia.
