Vodafone Ukraine, lifecell to fight for seven lots at 4G tender for 2,600 MHz range, Kyivstar for six

The top three mobile communications operators has submitted applications for six lots 10 MHz each, and only Vodafone-Ukraine and lifecell would fight for the seventh lot of 20 MHz, according to tender documents posted on the website of the National Commission for Communications and Informatization Regulation (NCCR).

According to the decision of the regulator, Vodafone-Ukraine and lifecell were declared bidders for lot 1 (20 MHz, 2,540-2,545, 2,565-2,570/2,660-2,665, 2,685-2,690 MHz frequencies) and Kyivstar, Vodafone-Ukraine and lifecell for the rest six lots (10 MHz each).

According to the tender documents, on January 23, 2018, the bidders will be finally determined and the date for the tender by voice will be appointed.

The basis for refusing to recognize the bidder as a tenderer for the relevant lot is the non-availability of a tender deposit for a lot in the NCCR.

The minimum payment for lot 1 is UAH 572 million, for each of the lots number UAH 2-7 - 286 million. The cost of conversion for the lots is respectively UAH 125.023 million for the first one and UAH 62.512 million for the lots from the second to the seventh.

In addition, the deadlines for accepting applications from operators for participation in the 4G tender for the 1,800 MHz range is 16.45 on January 26, 2018.

Previously, all operators said that licenses for 1,800 MHz frequencies are more important for them from the point of view of technology development.
