Number of bank branches in Ukraine 8% down in 2017

 The number of bank branches in Ukraine in 2017 decreased by 8% compared to the beginning of the year, to 9,489 offices, according to statistics released by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

According to the NBU, the general trend towards the decrease in the number of offices has been maintained since 2012.

The rate of reduction of the number of bank branches in 2017 slowed down slightly: if in 2017 some 8% of existing branches (827 divisions) were closed, then in 2016 the figure was 13.1% of subdivisions (1,555 branches).

According to the NBU, Oschadbank remains the leader in the number of divisions with 3,205 branches, and PrivatBank ranks second with 2,243 offices. In 2017 Oschadbank closed 443 branches, while PrivatBank opened one.

Raiffeisen Bank Aval (503 branches) and UkrSibbank (325 branches) also have extended networks of branches.

Over the year, the largest increase in the number of offices among large banks was shown by Alfa-Bank (by 84, to 187 branches, Accent-Bank (by 17, to 211 offices), and Ukrgasbank (by 12, to 243 units).
