Transfer of underground gas storage facilities to Trunk Pipelines of Ukraine to push off foreign investors

The transfer of underground gas storage facilities and non-profile assets of public joint-stock company Ukrtransgaz to the newly created company Trunk Pipelines of Ukraine would push off foreign partners from cooperation with Ukraine in management of its gas transport system (GTS), NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy Head Andriy Kobolev has said.

"Our talks with the interested foreign companies, and we have four of them, show that if the underground gas storage facilities and non-profile assets are transferred to Trunk Pipelines of Ukraine, these companies would lose their interest," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Kobolev said that the transfer of toxic assets to Trunk Pipelines of Ukraine would result to catastrophic consequences for the Ukrainian GTS.

"This would mean that in the near future the EU would become disappointed in attempts to become our partner and would make a decision to become a partner of Nord Stream 2," he said.
