Companies of Akhmetov, Firtash, Tigipko, Koretskyi and DufEnergy licensed to supply gas in Ukraine

The National Commission for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER) has issued licenses for natural gas supplies to Rinat Akhmetov's DTEK Oil & Gas and Himvektor LLC whose ultimate beneficiary is Dmytro Firtash via Cyprus's Valanox Investments Limited.

A corresponding decision was made by the commission at a meeting on Wednesday.

Licenses were also issued to a subsidiary of the Swiss trader DufEnergy, DufEnergy Ukraine LLC, to Fortex Energy LLC of CEO of WOG Sergei Koretskyi, TAS Energy of the Country LLC of Sergiy Tigipko, PrJSC LINIK controlled by Russia's Rosneft, and LPG trader Startnafta Ukraine LLC.

In total, the commission issued licenses to 24 companies.

As reported, the NCER as of November 2017 issued about 350 gas supply licenses in Ukraine. In particular, licenses were issued to large world companies and traders, such as Trafigura, Engie, and Switzerland-based MET Holding AG.

The NCER is engaged in state regulation of subjects of natural monopolies in electric power industry, heat supply, the oil and gas sector, centralized water supply and sewage, processing and burial of solid domestic waste. It also pursues price and tariff policy in the said areas.
