Parties interested in buying Roshen not ready to incur country risks - Rothschild

Companies interested in buying Roshen Confectionery Corporation (Kyiv) are not ready to incur country risks and refused the deal, a representative of Rothschild has said.

"In fact, all interested parties informed us that they are not ready to incur such a high risk and politely refused the opportunity," Rothschild Inc. Managing Director for the CIS Countries Giovanni Salvetti said in an interview with Ukrayinska Pravda.

He clarified the matter concerns the Ukrainian-Russian crisis, the development of which is unpredictable.

According to him, the decision to place Petro Poroshenko's stake in the "blind" trust for management is the most transparent and the only working option for Poroshenko's effective separation from his ownership of the shares.

Salvetti noted that only global players can afford to buy such a large corporation as Roshen, whose value under normal market conditions will amount to several billions of dollars.

"We contacted all the major world players working in this sector: European, North American, Asian, as well as some major investment funds ... They all liked the company, but the context was too risky for them, and they were not ready for the deal," the expert said.
