The Operator of the Ukrainian GTS (gas transportation system) subsidiary, established in the structure of PJSC Ukrtransgaz, has started its work, which allows talking about the completion of the first stage of unbundling, the company press service has reported.

"Right now, the Operator of the Ukrainian GTS is a full-fledged and unified decision-making center for the management of the Ukrainian gas transportation system. This branch is functionally a self-sufficient structural unit with an approved organizational structure and staffing table, it has 209 employees, already serves more than 1,000 contracts for gas transportation in Ukraine and interacts with other branches of Ukrtransgaz," the report said.

The press service said the Ukrtransgaz board also had decided to transfer assets necessary for gas transportation to the branch, which is a necessary and sufficient condition for ensuring gas transportation through Ukraine and subsequent certification of the GTS operator in accordance with European standards.

"Today we can confirm we'd managed to fulfill this difficult and ambitious task. Over the first month of autonomous work, the branch has worked out the processes of efficient management of the gas transportation system and ensured uninterrupted gas transportation to European and Ukrainian consumers. This became possible due to the joint and persistent work of specialists from Ukrtransgaz, Naftogaz Ukrainy and PwC consulting group," director general of the branch Myroslav Khymko said.
