Ukraine ready to cooperate for safety of air traffic over Black Sea - PM

 Ukraine supports ICAO approaches to the security of civil aviation and is ready to cooperate for the safety of air traffic over the Black Sea, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said.

"Ukraine fully supports and complies with the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the safety of civil aviation and is grateful to the leadership of the organization for supporting Ukraine's position regarding the safety of air traffic over the Black Sea," Groysman was quoted as saying by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday, November 1.

He said at a meeting with ICAO Council President Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu and ICAO Secretary General Fang Liu that Kyiv was ready to use all available potential for regulating air traffic over the Black Sea.

"This is a very important issue for us. We are ready for cooperation and are ready to use Ukraine's potential to resolve this extremely important issue," Groysman said.

Aliu, in turn, expressed gratitude for the desire of Ukrainian experts to enter the governing bodies and strengthen the management of the organization.

"We are grateful that Ukraine wants to strengthen the ICAO management, because we are well aware that Ukraine has very skilled specialists and very high standards of education in the field of aviation safety," he said.

During the talks, the sides agreed to strengthen technical cooperation and develop cooperation on ensuring air traffic safety.
