Some 63,900 cars registered in other countries violating temporary import terms in Ukraine

A total of 63,900 cars registered in other countries and entered Ukraine in 2015-2017, violating temporary import terms for staying in Ukraine.

According to a posting on the website of the State Fiscal Service, in 2015, out of 549,600 cars 21,500 cars were not returned. Most of the cars – 472,300 – crossed the border in the temporary importation regime. In 2016, some 54,200 cars out of 712,600 cars registered in other countries and entered Ukraine were not returned, including over 32,000 vehicles that violate the temporary import terms. Last year some 588,400 cars crossed the border in the temporary importation regime and 124,100 cars in the transit regime.

The fiscal service also said that since early 2017 as of September 4, 2017, almost 72,300 cars out of 111,900 vehicles entered the country in the transit regime and another 380,600 vehicles in the temporary importation regime did not return.

"Including 10,300 of them are staying in Ukraine violating the terms," the fiscal service said.

Since 2015, customs officers recorded over 26,100 customs rules violation protocols for transit and almost 4,900 protocols for violation of the temporary importation regime. The total sum of fines reached UAH 206.5 million.
