MTIBU expels Unison Insurance for debts

The Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine (MTIBU) has expelled private joint-stock company Unison Insurance from the bureau over a debt to the bureau's funds.

According to a posting on the website of the MTIBU, the decision was made on July 14.

According to the report, this is the second case this year when the insurance company was expelled from the bureau (UOSK was expelled in March), while in 2016 there were three cases, in 2015 – four and in 2014 – 19. Only twice in 2014, the ground for expelling from the bureau was the submission of applications by insurers, while in the rest of the cases it was the debt to the bureau's funds.

At present, MTIBU has 55 insurance companies as members, according to its website.

As reported, on June 14, law enforcers raided Unison group. Chief Military Prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoliy Matios said that they were linked to the inquiry into the Yanukovych-Klymenko criminal gang.

On July 27, Unison Insurance said that the company is operating as usual, and all commitments to the state, clients, partners and employees are met on time and in full amount. According to the statement of the company, it does not have debts for insurance payments in claims, tax and reinsurance payments.

Unison Insurance saw a 38.1% rise in net revenue in 2016, to UAH 26.43 million, cutting net profit to UAH 80,000 from UAH 13.61 million a year ago.

Insurance premiums totaled UAH 37.38 million last year and payments – UAH 15.67 million.
