Lviv airport manages to sign contract with Ryanair

The Lviv international airport during the negotiations with Ryanair airlilne has rejected several demands of the airline and signed the contract, the airport's director general, Tetiana Romanovska has said.

"We have removed several demands. In the first year they offer only the basic contract, and the rest of the demands the Boryspil airport was speaking about will be discuss next years," she said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

The demands include sending a part of the profit, land for a hotel and other things.

"The Lviv airport had long negotiations with Ryanair, more than six months. The process was extremely difficult, but after long convictions and approvals the airline accepted our terms. We signed a contract that is absolutely legal and does not contradict the legislation," Romanova said.

She also said that the prices that were approved with Ryanair are equal for everyone, that is, in fact, discounts can be provided to all without exception.

"By the way, we signed a new contract with UIA a year ago and awarded them with the maximum discounts allowed by the law. The airline has the chance to develop existing flights throughout the year. We are waiting for new routes. We have equal conditions for all. The myth that we give Ryanair something more, should be dispelled," the director general of the Lviv airport said.

As reported, Ryanair, the European largest airline, announced that it has cancelled its planned entry into Ukraine following Boryspil airport's failure to honor a growth agreement reached at the Ministry of Infrastructure with the airport officials and Airport Director General Pavlo Riabikin in March of this year.

Ryanair Chief Commercial Officer David O'Brien said that regrettably, Kyiv airport has instead chosen to protect high fare airlines (including Ukraine International Airlines) and deprive Ukrainian consumers and visitors of access to Europe's lowest air fares and widest route network. As a result, Ryanair has no choice but to cancel four new Kyiv routes and seven new Lviv routes
