National Public Broadcasting TV Company to contest 'freezing' of EUR15 mln guarantees for hosting Eurovision 2017

The National Public TV Broadcasting Company of Ukraine will contest the "freezing" and initiating the procedure of arresting the EUR 15 million guarantees in Geneva provided by Ukraine to the European Broadcasting Union for hosting the Eurovision 2017 song contest.

Chairman of the National Public TV Broadcasting Company of Ukraine Zurab Alasania said this to journalists after a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.

"We have already filed a lawsuit to court, the lawyer firm that represents us has already started contesting. We take into account the fact that EUR15 million is public funds that are not provided for any claims other than Eurovision provision. Please return the money," he said.

According to him, the National Public TV Broadcasting Company expects the announcement of the date of court hearings and consideration of this issue.

"This is not a matter of two or three days, consideration can last two or four months," the official said.
